“Huge shoutout to Chris W Allen for our successful diminished value claim. Before our accident I didn’t know insurance companies are required to pay out diminished value in Georgia even if the claim is on your own insurance. Our accident was a comprehensive claim as a block of wood hit our Tesla Model X on the interstate. The repairs took 2.5 months and the body shop total was around $26k.
The insurance company didn’t proactively offer diminished value, but when I asked about it they came up with a calculation of $5,000. This seemed a little low to me, but in my searches of Tesla Facebook groups it seemed like a typical amount.
